Wheeking is a noise guinea pigs make as a general noise of excitement. They make this noise when they know food is coming. If they are fed at regular intervals, they may associate a noise (such as a fridge opening) or a command (by assigning a word to the action) with food, and begin to wheek.
Guinea pigs may also make this noise to wheek to another guinea pig for assistance, if they are lost, or are looking for another.
